I so relate to Taylor in this song. I have known plenty of guys in my lifetime that were dating someone else and flirting incessantly with other girls or weren't dating anyone specifically, but flirted with every girl they knew.

Taylor shows that she has interest in him, "it would be a fine preposition" but she would only go along with it "If I was a stupid girl/And yeah I might go with it/If I hadn't once been just like her." He's "the kind of man who makes me sad/While she waits up/You chase down the newest thing/And take for granted what you have." She has had this happen a few times to her, one of the biggest ones being Joe Jonas, which she sings about in "Better Than Revenge".
I am proud of Taylor for not going along with this flirtatious guy. I know from experience that they can be very charming to you and to every other girl they meet, and it only ends in heartbreak.

LOL this article is written based purely on how the media portrays Harry, he is in no way a "flirtatious player guy", he hasn't had a relationship in so long and his stunt with Taylor was for pure publicity.

DeleteI don't think it's not about Harry but maybe Justin Bieber because Taylor does write about the things she witnesses and how she feels about it and we all know Justin was completely disrespectful towards Selena and that's one of Taylor's best friends. And that photo of them is photoshopped. It was a time Taylor was with Selena and someone photoshopped Harry on Selena's body.

I have no idea who it is about but I don't think it was him because first of all, I don't know that he had a girlfriend when he first met her and second, if she knew he was a cheater and thought it was disgusting that he'd flirt with someone when he had a girlfriend then why would she date him after that? And also, I think the song is older than that and that picture is totally photoshopped! I can tell from looking at it that it's a picture from 2010 (her hair is curly and she's wearing a shirt she wore in a 2010 photoshoot) and it looks like a recent picture of him. I could tell right away it was fake but thanks to the person who commented above me for pointing out that it was actually Selena! lol

DeleteI really think this song is about someone she never dated because I'm pretty sure the guy reminded her of John Mayer...I'm not positive, but I'm betting John "turned off his phone" while talking to another girl about having some adult fun while Taylor sat waiting on him...(but it could very well have been a different boyfriend, it's just it has him written all over it). I don't think Taylor liked that feeling and wouldn't be the third party doing it to someone else. I think this is one of those things where (if it's not Bieber), we will never know WHO it's about, and we're not supposed to. She was merely criticizing the habit, not the person. She said she WANTED the guy to call his girlfriend and stop flirting with other girls in the song. In other words "Stop taking something special for granted". I really don't think it's Styles at all.

ReplyDeleteThis song is actually about Zac Efron, how do I know? Because she puts the four chords in the song she taught him, and before she even sings she strums them and changes to each chord she taught Zac Efron.
ReplyDeleteThe reason Taylor didn't expose who or hinted who the song was about was because she painted Zac wrongly. When he would flirt with her he had Lily Collins around, but the problem is, Lily and him weren't actually real they we're PR dating/fwb and only saw each other once. Which, Taylor did not know at the time.
That's why she never hinted it because she screwed up.
Taylor later thanked Zac at the Teen Choice Awards, and in 2014 tried to hookup with him by visiting his awkward moment after party.
They both screwed up.
