We’re not in Kansas Anymore

 Dear Taylor,

First off. You know I’m a devoted fan. I’ve been here for years supported you through thick and thin. I have to be honest with you today. 

It’s not 2011, 2017 even 2019 even more. The things we could care about, trivial things we can’t care about anymore. The world has changed. Are people still using music and video entertainment to escape? You bet ya. But we are being more careful. The world has changed and we know what we support matters. 

I am being super careful. I am boycotting Target, Amazon, American Eagle and so many others. I’m being super careful about what I buy. 

More importantly and why I am doing this is I am sooooo scared. I have no idea what country we will be living in in 2, 4 or 10 years. I am scared and incredibly frightened for people in this country, trans, Latin American, black, and many more. I know as a white female I have some privilege but I am not as safe as a white man. 

Which gets me to the point of the post. I feel like you are operating under the old guise, like nothing has changed. And maybe for you nothing has changed. The top has already been super corrupt. They just did it in secret before. I ask you though to take a step back and evaluate. We want to support you and your music, but in a new way that is cognizant of everything happening all around. Recent actions of yours from who you are pictures with to your normal variant drop have come off as not cognizant of what is happening. 

Here are some suggestions, take it or leave it. This list is in no way comprehensive. 

-don’t drop a special version at Target

-give proceeds of a variant color/s to Gaza or immigration help

-say something about what is happening. There was so great political music that came out of Vietnam. Bring it back. Make the movement that way. 

-distance yourself from MAGA, make it clear you don’t condone what is happening 

-now that you’re connected to Travis, have him do the same. He lost a ton of Karma points today with the American Eagle ad. I feel like he should have dropped it

Most importantly please show us you are not compromising your beliefs or doing what’s right because of money. We need people to stand up right now. You’ve done it with Apple, Spotify, your masters. Now help the women of the world stand up to the patriarchy and oligarchy.
