Are We Being Played?

The more I sit on “The Life of a Showgirl” album the more angry I get. I wrote about it last time how the album is so dissonant with the time. We don’t need a trad wife album we need a resistance album.  I saw a video saying how Taylor could have created the best resistance album. And it’s true, but alas she did not. She created a lewd Sabrina Carpenter album that missed the mark entirely. She copied Sabrina’s lyric style and dress and made an album.

I honestly think she was seeing the success of Sabrina which she partially created by inviting her on tour. Taylor is a smart business woman and has leaned on the success of others to propel her own. She tried to make a Sabrina album because Sabrina got some Grammy’s and that’s what Taylor chases. She wants the awards more than anything. The thing is Sabrina is not Taylor. I for one am not a fan of Sabrina and never will be. I am not a fan of this album.

The main points of the album were:

• She needs a man to be happy (which was also the point of Rep and why I didn’t love)
• She is better than Travis’s old savage girlfriends aka black girlfriends
• Travis has magical powers because of his you know 
• We the fans will never understand her
• Being a trad wife is the ultimate goal
• A guy can call you condescending names

In the promo she says her work is not nearly as important as Travis’s. I didn’t even know who Travis was until she started dating him. Football is not important. 

If this album had come out in 2024 when it was written it might have been okay. But Trump has amplified the voices and reversed direction on the roles of the black community, of women and so many more. We don’t need Taylor to embrace this, we need her to stand up to it. People stood up with Jimmy Kimmel. It was easy and now he still has a voice. 

This leads me to my question. Are we being played? Is this a ruse? Does she have a master plan to over throw what is happening right now? Is she going to take everything down? I don’t know it’s far fetched but would explain what is happening now. 

I don’t usually comment on Taylor’s relationships but the relationship feels off to me. She is sacrificing everything she has built herself up to be for Travis. He is an angry guy who is full of himself and she is settling down with him? What if he gets angry with her or bored with her? Is Travis her Kevin Federline who will write a book some day about her?

I don’t understand it all or any of it. I want this to be a fake out album and for Taylor not to have merch that resembles SS symbols. I think she does not okay designs and it snuck by. Her merch is low quality and high priced. I want Travis not to support American Eagle which supports eugenics. I want this whole thing to be over. And more importantly I want Taylor to be on the right side of history like she has always been. If not there’s going to be a lot of people that will turn away and never come back.
